HOD's Desk

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.

We are now well in the fourth year of being a full fledged Department of English at Lingaya's University , a centre for excellence in Higher education in India.

The aim of education is not merely to supply information in a stereotyped and formal manner and injecting in the mind of the student some narrow religious ideas under the semblance of "morals and ethics". An ideal teacher should devise ways and means, within the existing system, to inspire students to try to find the unseen meaning in the visible objects, to see the moral in the physical. This is what the Dept. of English and PD at Lingaya's University stands for. The aim of our Dept. is to bring a transformation and a positive mindset in developing an inclusive attitude towards learning Literature with Moral values , wisdom with specific skills, socio cultural awareness and uplift the quality of research activity among students.

The field of Literature which acts as a spring board to empower and rejuvenate the future of students is a fathomless ocean to swim across. So here the creative and selfless team of experienced teaching members of English department extend their hands (at large ) to enable the students to be intelligible in the field of education with their colossal skill of teaching. The experts of the department help students to meet the global standards with their excellent academic competency. Besides, Wordsworth's theoretical as well as practical lab oriented training in the global language provide students to ensure their placement opportunity as they dream of .Not only are the faculty academically and professionally amongst the best, but also they have high standards of moral and ethical values, and act as true role models. At Lingaya's, the faculty in the Department of English and PD comprises distinguished academicians from the best institutions, and leading professionals. In addition to the permanent faculty, leading professionals interact regularly with the students to encourage the students to look beyond the books and explore the subject with experiential learning.

The Department offers B.A (Hons.) English and M.A in English. The PhD programme in English is a huge success at Lingaya's University with ten research scholars already doing PhD in their respective areas of interest in Language and Literature.
