High availability and easy access to modern information and communication services is one of the necessary conditions for the success of any organization in today’s highly competitive world. Keeping this in mind the Department of Information Technology at Lingaya’s University started Bachelors in information Technology in 1999. The program provides the education and training to meet the goals and objectives of Information Technology and computing profession. The department of Information Technology is run by a team of IT professionals/faculty headed by Dr.Suresh Kumar (PhD. in Software Engineering) who is also an Assessor of Quality Assurance (Certified by INTEC UK Ltd.) for quality systems BS 5750/ ISO 9000/EN 29000 and BS 7229/ISO 10011 and having 27 years of industry experience. There is a great opportunity for students after completing B.E in Information Technology, in the fields of(but not limited to) Software Development, IT Product quality and Testing, Mainframes, B.P.O.s, Consultancy of IT Professionals in non IT companies for their SW /IT requirements, Academics and R&D in national and multinational companies in India.

The department of Information Technology provides four-year (eight Semesters) engineering course leading to bachelors in Information technology Lingaya’s University, Faridabad (Haryana, India) and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE, New Delhi, India). The course is highly Lab oriented and contains the majors like Network Programming, Computer Graphics, Multimedia and Animation Technology, Rapid Application Development, Microprocessors and Interfaces, Web Technologies & Development, Software Engineering, Security of Information Systems, Wireless Communications, Data Warehousing and Data Mining The Department also runs specializations on Laser Technology, Web Engineering, Network Security and Robotics (Expert Systems) through electives and value added courses The Students undergo two Industry based summer trainings and submit a report. This report is evaluated by a team of industrial representatives and faculty. The department is equipped with a departmental library for quick reference. The department houses a small computer centre for departmental faculty and senior students.

INNOVATIVE PRACTICES
All the activities of the department are student oriented. Regular feedback from students and faculty is utilized for improvement in teaching learning process. The department is committed for continuous improvement and firmly believes in TQM (Total Quality Management). The creativity of students is well nurtured & encouraged and new ideas are thoroughly debated on various faculty students’ platforms. The department lays maximum stress on positive attitude through counseling and through a unique Life Management Training Programme. Further three prolonged strategies are adopted for counseling & guidance of students. Firstly it is done at the level of subject teacher, secondly at the level of class counselor who counsels them on career, studies & personal problems and finally at the level of HOD. The students are not only guided on the methodology of learning but also how to improve their self study and self learning through library, internet and learning resource materials. To develop leadership qualities, students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. Seminars, debates, group discussion are regular features for overall development of personality.

PROJECTS & INDUSTRY INTERACTION
Project work and its evaluation is an essential part of the course. Some of the projects done by our students in recent past have been selected for presentation at various Industrial Forums. The Department is also involved in consultancy in the area of Computer Aided Software Engineering Tools and Software Process Quality. Through projects and consultancy, the department is having continuous and vibrant interaction with the industry. This gives our students a chance to mingle with the professionals in industry. Further, Faridabad being an Industrial Hub, besides being in NCR gives an added advantage to our students to interact with various types of industrial environments and their requirements. Students usually get an opportunity to complete their trainings with companies like Escorts, Hughes, HCL, Thomson Press, NHPC, NTPC, Indian Oil etc.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT
The Training and Placement Department provides excellent support to students in getting them appropriate positions in industry.
