The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was set up in the year 1998 to meet the growing requirement of practical design engineers in the country and abroad. The Department endeavours to provide state- -of- the- art education and lays great emphasis in developing creative skills and all round development of the students .It specializes in the areas of Embedded Systems, Microelectronics & VLSI, Digital Signal Processing, Communication Engineering & Microwave Engineering. Electronics & Communication Engg. stream is always in great demand because of broad based coverage which also includes Communication and IT. Electronics is all pervading as an integral part of all Mechanical, Electrical, Communications and IT equipment and systems. Electronics & Communication engineers have good employment opportunity in Electronics & Communication including Cellular telephones, Microwave, Satellite & IT fields.

The sanction faculty strength of the department is 3 Professors, 7 Assistant Professors and 14 Lecturers. Presently the Department is headed by Prof. Dr. S.V.A.V. Prasad who has a rich experience of nearly thirty-five years in R&D laboratories and teaching institutions of repute.

PROJECTS & INDUSTRY INTERACTION

To inculcate practical skills along with theoretical knowledge the students under-take various projects in conjunction with industry or at the Institute itself.. These projects are also an important part of our research and development activity. The students interact with the industry to design and develop the product or a part of a product.
Some of the major projects undertaken recently include:

#??? Implementation of Voice Over Internet Protocol ( VOIP ) for Hindustan Times.
#??? Electronic speed Governor for petrol engine “AB-16″ for the Air Force.
#??? Design of front-end electronics for pulsed Nd Yag laser receiver for DRDO.

Design and development of closed loop Tip Tilt Mirror Systems using micro controller also for DRDO. Students are exposed to the field reality by way of 6-week summer training program at a reputed organization during second and third years. Frequent visits are also arranged to the establishments of national repute. These interactions have proved to be extremely useful for the students in their holistic development.

PLACEMENTS

Most of the students get recruited by the reputed companies through campus placements. Some of the students also opt for higher education in the foreign Universities such as Melbourne University, Australia or seek self-employment.
