The Department of Computer Applications has been established to design and offer courses with a twin objective of producing world class computer professionals and to keep pace with the R&D activities in this fast emerging and changing field of Computer Applications. The department believes in close interaction with the industry on regular basis to keeps pace with the ever changing scenario of the IT industry.

• BCA, MCA and Ph.D.

The Department of Computer Applications, Lingaya’s University, Faridabad is headed by Prof. Saba Hilal. She has 18 years of working experience in industry, education, research and training. She is actively involved in research guidance/ research projects/ research collaborations with Institutes/ Industries. She has more than 65 publications/ presentations and her work is listed in DBLP, IEEE Explore, Highbeam, Bibsonomy, Booksie, onestopwriteshop, writers-network etc. She has authored a number of books and has participated in various International and National Conferences and Educational Tours to USA and China.

The Department has a team of well qualified and experienced faculty, with a good mixture of academic and industry experience. The Department is further strengthened by a number of guest/visiting faulty.

The Curriculum has been designed to cater to the ever changing demands of information technology, with the necessary inputs from the Industry. The Department produces individuals who contribute at all levels: individual, national and global. The objective of the Department is to develop skilled manpower in the various areas of information technology.Department offers courses which are highly Lab oriented and contains the courses like Multimedia and Animation Technology, Rapid Application Development, Web Technology & Development, Software Engineering, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, Computer Graphics, IT for Forensic Science and Wireless Communications.

The Department is equipped with a department library for quick reference. The students also use the central library for the reference purpose. The Department houses an air-conditioned computer laboratory which is well equipped with high configuration computers, TV and dedicated LAN. The computer Lab has latest versions of hardware and a combination of system & application software and adheres to “one student one computer concept”. The department aims at imparting skills required by the global IT industry, through interactive learning process which includes team-building skills, audio-visual presentations and personality development programmes. These activities enhance analytic and communication skills, besides encouraging the concept of self-study.

INNOVATIVE PRACTICES

All the activities of the department are student oriented. The creativity of students is well nurtured & encouraged and new ideas are thoroughly debated on various faculty?students platforms. The Department lays maximum stress on positive attitude through?counselling?and through a unique Life Management Training Programme. Further three prolonged strategy is adopted for?counselling?& guidance of students. Firstly it is done at the level of subject teacher, secondly at the level of Faculty Advisor who counsels the students on career, studies & personal problems and finally at the level of HOD. The students are not only guided on the methodology of learning but also how to improve their self study and self learning skills through library, internet and learning resources materials. To develop leadership qualities, students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. Seminars, Debates, group discussion are regular features for overall development of personality. Department regularly organizes International and National Conference and Seminars. Department has recently organized an International Conference with participation from more than 10 countries.

PROJECT & INDUSTRY INTERACTION

Project work and its evaluation is an essential part of the course. The Department is also equipped in providing consultancy in the area of Software Engineering and Data Mining & Warehousing. Through projects and consultancy, the department is having continuous and vibrant interaction with the industry. This gives our students a chance to mingle with the professionals in industry. Faridabad being an Industrial Hub, and having location advantage of in NCR gives and added advantage to our students to interact with various types of industrial environments and their requirements.

PLACEMENT

The Training and Placement Department provides excellent support to students in getting them appropriate positions in industry. The T&P runs various programs on interview skills, entrepreneurship etc. Due to their consistent efforts most of our students have been picked up by the leading software houses for training and placements viz
