The Field of Computer Science is the main developing area in the country, as well as a major contributor to the skilled and trained manpower of the world. Given the Software industry focus of Haryana and the neighboring states, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Lingaya’s University is in unique position to significantly contribute to the development of the state and the country.

The Computer Science & Engineering Department builds Next Generation Engineers through a range of activities which include:

The Computer Science & Engineering Department is headed by Prof. Mahesh Madan who has more than 30 years of experience in Industry and Engineering Education. The department has a team of well qualified and experienced faculty, with good mixture of academic and industry experience that not only facilitates the teaching of latest technologies, but also provides them with insight into the different Corporate and Industrial work environments.

THE PROGRAMMES

Bachelor of Technology

Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering, a four-year course spread over 12 Trimesters has total of 46 theory Subjects encompassing the complete range from basic engineering foundation to the latest & current computer hardware & Software technologies, and practical sessions that prepare them to be good technical professionals capable of performing well in the computer hardware and software industry (Sales & Marketing and Development). Some of the major subjects are:

Electrical & Mech. Engineering Basics, Mathematical Foundation, DataBase Management System,Theory of Automata & Computation Object Oriented Programming, Internet Programming, Digital & Analog Communications, Advanced Computer Architecture, Digital Electronics, Data Communications & Networking, Computer Graphics Visual Programming Techniques,?E-Commerce, Data Mining & Warehousing, Advanced Java,?Software Engineering, Web Engineering, Operating System,?Neural Network, Data Structure & Algorithm, Artificial Intelligence,?Wireless Communication, Analysis & Design Algorithm, Multimedia & Technology

Master of Technology

The Department offers M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering in full/ part time mode. The full time program duration is 2 years (6 Trimesters). The part time program duration is 3 years (9 Trimester)

Ph. D.

The Department offers Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering in full time & Part time mode

The CSE Department has excellent Computer Laboratory facility consisting of more than 12 laboratories, with latest versions hardware and a combination of system and application software, and adheres to “ONE STUDENT ONE COMPUTER” Concept.

INNOVATIVE PRACTICES

A “Student Centered” approach is followed in all activates of the Department. A multi-level counseling & guidance is given to the students by the subject teacher to improve knowledge & understanding, Class Counselor providing guidance on career, studies in general and personal problems and finally by HOD on various issues faced by the students that facilitate the overall development of the student. In addition to the normal guidance on learning, the students are helped in improving self-study & learning, usage of library, internet and other resources. Maximum importance is given to all round development of the student as a human being with emphasis on moral, social & ethical values, and leadership qualities also.

PROJECT & INDUSTRY INTERACTION

Because of its location advantage students get a good industrial and corporate exposure in industrial projects in organizations like Escorts R&D, Hughes Software, Siemens Information Systems, Bharat Electronics, Reinfo Solutions etc. By conducting Group Discussions and Seminars by Industry Experts, the students are given hands on information about the industry requirements and expectations. Department is running the “Campus Connect” Program with Infosys that prepares the students according to Industry requirements.

Some of the main projects done in the past and short listed for demonstration as Best Engineering Projects by Faridabad Industrial Association (FIA) are as given below:

1. Life Detecting Robot:- for Rescue Operations that is a real-time application based Robot for detecting buried human life through audio, video monitoring of site through camera and measuring CO2 level through CO2 sensors.

2. Image Enhancement using Flash and No Flash Image Pairs that helps in creating on advanced image using the combined strengths of flash and ambient images.

3. Chatbot Vision is a software program that recognizes the mood of the subject (Human being in front of the web camera) in real time, by evaluating the facial expression and also interacts with the person according to his mood. (Won First Prize as Best Engineering Project 2010 judged by Faridabad Industrial Association (FIA).

4. Automated Mosaicing of Torn Paper Documents demonstrates the process of joining of the pieces which includes searching for the pieces in the memory, loading them into the program, matching the appropriate parameters and then joining them.

PLACEMENT

Students of the Department have got excellent in both National as well as Multi National Companies like Infosys, Satyam Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Infotech, HCL Technologies, Hughes Software, Primus, Hewitt Systems, Quark Systems, Siemens Infotech Systems, Fidility,? L&T Infotech, Convergys, Armed Forces etc.

Several Students have been able to obtain admission for higher studies in India, U.S.A. Australia and Europe in prestigious Universities like IITs and IIITs, University of Melbourne, University of California and University of New Jersey.
