The country is going through an Education revolution of sorts. The plan layout for Education has been increased in an unprecedented proportion. In addition, the self financing model in Education has come to stay in a very distinct manner. In all this scenario of vast expansion, at the initiative of the Government and/or private trusts and societies, lot many challenges have emerged for the academic world to take the country to its rightful place in the next one decade. Fortunately, the entire world is shifting towards knowledge economy, which has always been our USP from India.

To my mind, the critical parameters for Education are going to be quality, flexibility and relevance. In addition, networking of Universities with the corporate world will be another very strong requirement in the coming days.

I believe that we are entering into a phase which can be called “Survival of the Fittest” in Academic World. The “Fittest” word, of course in this context means the University which is very open, flexible, ready for new experimentation and which in addition inculcates the strong values in the youth keeping in view our National heritage and character. Dr. Ram Kumar Chauhan assumed the charge of Vice Chancellor of Lingayas University on 22nd October 2012.

Dr. Ram Kumar Chauhan, Former secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC) is great visionary in the education industry. His experience as secretary, UGC provided newer dimension to the higher education in India. His commitment to professional excellence and is a hall-mark for India higher education. Dr. Chauhan has had a very distinguished career. He has also been the Vice Chancellor of Guru Jambeshwar University, Hissar, Haryana, a state Technical University and The Global Open University, Nagaland. In his long association, with the Government of India, he has held several key positions, to count a few, Chairman, AICTE Standing Appellate Committee, Member of the Expert committee AICTE, Member  of Joint committee of  DEC, UGC, and AICTE. He has played a pivotal role in policy formulation of Higher education in India. Dr. Chauhan has proved his administrative brilliance in the growth of Universities in India.

As regards his Academic qualification Dr. Chauhan has acquired PhD in Management, M.B.A, & LL.B from Delhi University, and Diploma in labour law from Indian Law Institute, Delhi.
